University of Education Newly Appointed Senior Members Undergo Orientation
Newly appointed Senior Members of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Thursday, 1st November, 2018 underwent a day’s orientation at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba.
The orientation, organised by the Division of Human Resource (UEW) was to equip and embolden the newly appointed Senior Members in Winneba Campus as Convocation Members and Opinion Leaders of the University as well as people molding the academic character of UEW students.
In his Purpose of Gathering, the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq. charged the newly appointed Senior Members to work hard and strive to upgrade themselves so that they do not forfeit the renewal of their contracts.
In his Welcome Address, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni shared his vision for the UEW. “My vision as a Vice-Chancellor is to transform this University into a nationally and globally well respected keenly sought after Teacher Education University of high academic standards; one that is resource secure, one that is accessible to many, one that holds high values and has holistic attitude to quality assurance.”
The Vice-Chancellor hinted of strategies he would use to achieve that vision. According to him, the strategies were “Continuous Advancement, Academic Excellence, Access and Equity, Proactive Governance, Effective and Efficient Leadership, Holistic Governance, Transparency and Value for Money, Teamwork, Global Mindedness, Time Consciousness, Gender Sensitivity and Student Centeredness.”
There were five presentations by various facilitators namely the Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Principal, College of Agriculture Education, Prof. James Kagya-Agyemang; Director, Centre for International Programmes, Prof. Yaw Sekyi-Baidoo; Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Ernest K. Amponsah; Ag. Director, Information Technology (IT) Service Directorate, Dr. Kwaa-Aidoo; Senior Assistant Registrar, for Student Records, Academic Affairs, Mr. Raymond B. Boison and Assistant Librarian, Mr. Theophilus Fiawotoafor.
The presentations were respectively on the topics, Crafting an Academic Career at UEW; Teaching Excellence; Student Affairs and Helping Students in Distress; IT Support for Teaching, Research and Information Security and Online Student Information System (OSIS); OSIS/Enterprise Resource Integrated Systems (ERIS); and Information Access-Winnopac.
There were 53 newly appointed Senior Members in Winneba and eight Staff of the Division of Human Resource – Winneba in attendance.
